2010 wishes... what are yours?

Well almost 2010... a new decade. The time of reflection and new goals. New dreams, new wishes. What are yours? What do you wish for in 2010?

Here are mine. I have been living in 2 worlds for the last years. My world of design, branding, creative concepts and my passion of making books. And my passion for vintage and vintage Rolex as addiction for the last 3.5 years. But also cool vintage design like furniture etc.
My big passion are 'stories' and telling stories through my work. This is also what attracts me in vintage Rolex. Every watch tells it's own story. I want to tell those stories and add something to it.

I hope 2010 will be the start of melting the worlds together. To combine my passion for design, vintage, photography and Rolex. And combining my big passion of making books... Rolex books. Hope to finish one in 2010.

But also making collection books...for real nice collectors. Flying in, 2-3 days of shooting watches, great talks and making real high-end, small numbers private books.  Not commercial productions for bookshops... but books that will lighten the heart of the collector as he can enjoy his collection now every day. But in a very special and cool way. That would be my dream for 2010.

And more... like making real cool T-shirts,.... and more cools stuff. I am missing now.
So much more idea's! Can't wait to start on it.

And my big wish for 2010 is to find some real nice first owner and unpolished watches.
Watches with stories and special character.

But most.. to be able to meet my watch-friends again in 2010. Having more great meetings and talks. As that is what i think of being the highest value in this. The people we meet on the road. And the lessons and knowledge learned during this amazing trip.

So tell us, what are your wishes???
I wish all your dreams for 2010 will become true.

A great gift

Yesterday a great friend gave me this. As a X-Mas gift. Thanks!!! The best. I love Comex pins and this one is really cool.

Daytona Love part 7... so nice!

Yesterday i met some friends. And woooow what did i see. Another of these crazy beautiful brown Daytona's. So nice, it is almost hurting me. One day i really want one of those. Next to the Newman they are the nicest for sure. And much rarer.... very rare!
What a end of a year! I guess i need something brown again! Please helppppppppppppppppppp!

Merry X-Mas to you all

And on a day like this... it's Daytona time!
Best wishes for you and your beloved ones!

WTB a perfect 5513/5512 gilt

Ohhhhhh men... it's itching!! LOOL... look at the brown 5512 below. It ain't getting better then that. But i would like to come along.... and after a while without early 5512 or 5513 i am ready for another gilt Sub again. But it must be magical. All original and with a mint gloss dial. Perfect hands... perfect case.. well just the perfect watch! Maybe even tropical brown. Smiling to me.

Thanks for your help and wish you all a merry X-mas!

To you all....

I want to wish you all a great season and holidays.
Enjoy the time with the people you love. And enjoy your passion in 2010.

Tropical. We need the sun.

It's winter, it's dark and cold... we just need the sun and the warm feeling. Maybe these tropical dials will help.
Sometimes nature is good to us. Thanks you moisture,.. thank you UV... thanks you time...They are fabulous.
We see it in fifferent time-frames. But a lot on the DRSD Mk2 and 1680 red mtr's first dial. Seems to be a end of 60th thing.
My explanation is, that for printing deep black, you use a mixture of different colours to get deep black. Otherwise it will look grey-ish. I think they used a mixture with more brown/warmth on the end of the 60th... and by fading out other colours through UV... the brown get's dominant in the dial.
But i have also seen greenish kind of giltdials and the most beautuful Tropical i have seen. The camel-gilt Sub above!

The GMT has landed

Well guys you know i posted some WTB for a perfect 1675..... and i am almost there!!!! Fedex was nice to me this week. And it send me a beautiful GMT 1675 from '67.... not in it's final stage... but the route is the goal, if you know what i mean. When i posed my WTB i had so many nice mails... not only from sellers... but even more from great people trying to help. What a great feeling is that... community in it's best shape. Helping each other from sharing the same kind of passion. Not from gaining... but sharing! One of the nicest things!!!!!! Thanks to all. And here it is....

Perfect case to me... i love those lugs!!!!
The dial will be replaced for a nice MK1 matte dial. The hands are surposed to be original to this transitional era.
And it came with papers and chrono-certificate.... both punched. So i hope to the watch will be in 'my' dream-state before X-Mas... as she was my X-mas gift.
And the greatest gift in that.... the people we meet on that way. And a very special lady knows what i mean!!!!!
A good friend borrowed his black inlay for a couple of day's.... so know i need a black fat font inlay.... maybe even faded.... so if you have one... make my day.

Cool website!

Well we are all collectors and crazy about vintage.... and i guess most of us also love  vintage cars. Just found this website... and i love it. ANd i love that yellow Ferrari. The dream-car of my youth!

and who does not remember this one....

Comex 1665 610 Dial

The Comex 1665 is one of the coolest watches. Well i guess when you have been reading my blog you know how much i love Comex ;-). Here is another great watch. With an 610 dial. Which is official Rolex Comex replacement for the 1665. One of the rarest dial ever made. Also this watch has a very special caseback. Only made in a small batch. A real beauty and rare bird.

Double trouble

Today a friend was over... and it was a nice set-up ;-)
More to follow...

Cool strap

Today i am wearing a nice combination.... waiting for some cool ones...
I love the vintage SWISS Tropic strap. In combination with the faded inlay and MK1 Maxi... yummie!

1976 kind of style

Well a great guy send me a nice old National Geographic magazine from '76 with an 1680 (REDSUB) ad in it....

And as we all love those vintage watches... and look at them now.. it nice to see them next to the other icons/products and lifestyle of that era.. and relate it to that.... gives just another 'view' on the watches don't you think... in relation to their era. And in relation how still 'fresh' they look today.
Rolex is a great design.... timeless beauty. Can't say that about most of the things.
From the old box...  when a car still had character, Spain was still Spain,.. and rich people still had real privileges ;-)

I was a bit young then. I was having a party in the 80th. With wrong cloth, wrong drinks,... wrong places...... and wrong glasses LOOL!. But a lot of fun.

Cool strap

I just had a reply on the strap in the post below. About the brown strap. Well the straps are real cool. They come from a nice seller (LOOL) at the watchfair in Munich. They have all kind of nato straps and this kind of strap. It's thicker and the inside is from leather. The outside is textile. And they look real cool in my opinion. Have never seen them for sale anywhere els... someone else of you did???
